Alec Ilyine is an electro acoustic musician mixing fingerpicking with fieldrecordings and effects on the iPad. Ripple

As an intrepid traveler, bird sounds and song are collected and used as a sonic representation or souvenir of a certain place or country. Nature sounds are used as a sonic backdrop and function as a basso continuo under the sounds of the plucked strings. Further his musical projects range from these electro acoustic solo pieces, to the soft dreamy songs of duo Vi Vanellus, a new collaborative electronic setup with ‘- alyin -’, multi- instrumental experimentation, free improvisation, and various rock and pop bands.

Homage to
Josef Albers

In ‘Interaction of Colors’ Josef Albers writes about the interaction of colors, what happens between colors, and about the discrepancy between physical fact and psychic effect. Here ‘color’ is replaced with rhythm.
After recording the drumparts,  two musicians played on top, adding their interpretation of Albers’ work on top of the drumparts.

SYNAPTIC BODY

SYNAPTIC BODY is an innovative artistic collective formed by Alec Ilyine and Lucía Sombras (Lucía Callén). Their work explores the intersection of ART, NATURE, and TECHNOLOGY, focusing on how movement, the body, and sound can redefine our understanding of consciousness and perception in a technologically advanced world. By blending dance, live sound design, and real-time biometric feedback, they create immersive experiences that challenge traditional forms of interaction between performer and audience. Lucía’s deep knowledge of Butoh dance, combined with her background in neurobiology, provides the conceptual foundation for the Synaptic Butoh methodology, which aims to unlock the complex relationship between body, mind, and environment. Alec’s expertise in sound design brings these concepts to life through immersive soundscapes that interact dynamically with the performer’s movement and physiological data. Together, they aim to create performances that not only engage the audience on a sensory level but also provoke a deeper reflection on the integration of human and technological experiences.

DECALL

A soundscape made entirely out of city noises. A performance that talks about the problems of noise pollution and the effect it has on the body and mind.
